Focus : 1. Listening and Speaking
Content standard : 1.1 Pupils will be able to
pronounce words

Learning Standard : 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say
aloud and recite
rhymes or sing songs
with guidance.

Objective : By the end of the lesson
pupils should be able to say
aloud the seven days of the
week.

Activities :
1. Pupils listen to the song on days of the week.
2. Teacher introduces the days of the week.
3. Teacher and pupils sing the song together.
4. Pupils are divided into seven groups according to the days in a week. Pupils sing the song again. Then each group sings the song according to their group day only.

Teaching Aids : CD player, radio
Teaching and Learning : Contextual learning
Added Value : Creativity - Pupils do
the action while
singing the song.


Impact:
15 pupils able to say the sevens days of the weeks
5 pupils were given help.

meaning.
Learning Standard : 2.2.1 Able to read and apply word
recognition and word attack
skills by matching words with
graphics.
Objective : By the end of the lesson pupils
should be able to read and paste at
least five out of seven days of the
week.


Activities :
1. Pupils look and read a text on a calendar prepared by teacher.
2. Pupils read the word cards of the days.
3. Pupils recognize and articulate initial sounds in single syllable words:
‘s’, ‘m’, ‘t’, ‘w’, ‘f’.
4. Pupils pick a word card from a box, read and paste them in the blanks on the calendar.

Pupils create their own calendar by filling in the days and decorating/colouring the calendar..

correctly and neatly.
Activities :
1. Pupils sing ‘Days of the Week’ song.
2. Pupils spell the words orally.
3. Pupils find the names of the days of the week in a word maze and colour the words neatly.
4. Pupils write the names of the days in the correct order in their book.

creative works
with guidance
based on:
a) Dictionary (My Happy Days)
Objective : By the end of the lesson pupils
should be able to rearrange
seven days of the week by compiling
the word cards.
Activities :
1. Teacher sings the song of ‘My Happy Days’ and pupils follow.
2. Pupils play the musical chair game in their groups (Day 1). The looser has to fill in missing letters in the word cards (days of the week).
3. Pupils from each group will say aloud the particular day.
4. Pupils compile the word card into a booklet and decorate it.
5. Teacher shows the ‘Days of the week’ dictionary to pupils.

ribbons, ‘My Happy Days’
